Nothing New

This has seriously been a SLLOOOOWWW month. Other than a few birthday parties here and there, its been a very quiet month (and getting HOT).

August will pick up - we have another fun-filled party weekend next weekend, followed by a trip to Destin the following weekend! YEAH!

So, I apologize for the lack of content this month, but my brain is on summer vacation from working overtime in June!

Dress-Up Clothes- One of my Favorite Things

Most any mom of girls will tell you that their kids LOVE to play dress-up. Mine are no different. We have tons of Princess dresses, tiaras, plastic shoes, wands, hats, scarves, gloves.....

Anyway, we have tons of dresses, mostly Disney princess dresses and mostly very uncomfortable, made of tulle and lace and hard to get on/off. Beth LOVES the way they look, but hates the way they feel on her body. About 2 years ago, I found this little internet site:
http://www.littledressupshop.com/
...and their dresses are WONDERFUL!! They have just about every Disney Princess (and Barbies, and Fairies and even boy dress-up clothes), and they are wonderfully made. They are super comfortable and they have no velcro, snaps, buttons or anything - its just over the head and its on! Beth had a Princess Belle one and then both she and Sarah got the Cinderalla ones last Christmas. The dress just now fits Sarah and she literally wears it everyday! To eat in...to play outside in...to run around the house in...she loves it! Beth wore her Cinderella one around Disney World and I never heard a single complaint about being uncomfortable (like I was hearing from all the other little girls around us). The dresses run about $7 more than the average Disney Princess dress at Walmart and about the same price as any dress at The Disney Store (or less!) and shipping is free. Moms, I seriously HIGHLY recommend these dress-up dresses over ANYTHING out there!!! Oh - and they wash in the washer beautifully and come out just like brand new!! THAT in itself is worth the extra $7!!

So, if new dress-up clothes are in your future, for a birthday present, Halloween or Christmas, visit the site above before buying one at Wal-Mart or the Disney Store. You won't regret it and your little princess will be much happier and more comfy!!!

FYI - Sarah just barely fits into the size small (1-3 years) and Beth (47" tall) is wearing the size Large (5-7 years).

A Mid-Summer's Night Evening and Bathtime Giggles!

Its Friday, so I let the girls play outside longer than I usually do before bedtime and they had so much fun catching snails and Praying Mantis (eek!). Beth came screeching into the house "Mommy! Mommy! Come see what I found!" and low and behold she had spotted a bright green Praying Mantis in one of our bushes, so we scooped it up with the bug house and watched him/her for a few hours.

Letting him/her go back where we found it:

It is half in/half-out in this picture - can you see it?

Sarah didn't really care about all the Praying Mantis drama - she was really into her icecream cone, though...
...And getting into trouble climbing on the wood pile. Boy, I tell you what...that girl keeps me moving!

Oh, and then there's the mudpuddle....just about two seconds after I snapped this picture, that shovel came up and mud came right at me. She got me from shoulder to ankle!

So, now that everyone is filthy dirty and hyped up on icecream, it was time for nice, soothing warm baths. Yeah, right... It turned into a giggle fest AFTER I let out all the water. They laid in the tub and both of them were laughing uncontrollably! So, instead of trying to calm them down (and its now 1 1/2 hours past bedtime), I just grabbed the camera and snapped away!

Lost tooth and Hair cut

Not a lot of exciting news around here this last week.

In keeping with "tradition", Beth lost her second tooth on a holiday, the 4th of July. She lost her first on on Valentine's Day. The tooth fairy brough her two half dollars. She was thrilled. (yeah!)

And she also got her hair cut yesterday - I told her we were taming the mane and cutting it all off - I think we cut about 2 inches, maybe more. While it will be much easier to deal with(since she refuses ponytails, barrettes, bows, headbands, etc), I almost think it makes her look YOUNGER. What do you think? Its not a great picture - she was in a mood this morning! Whew!

We are heading into the dead of July...in other words, we have basically no "real" plans for activies or anything "big" from now until we leave for Florida on August 8th - one month away. I think we are going to try to head to Murray to visit the family on Saturday, but other than that, I'm guessing we'll be spending a lot of time at the lake or in our own yard in these next few weeks.

Oh- I bought 8 "big boy" tomato plants for a total of $1 today. I'm hoping to get them in the ground ASAP so we can have some late August tomatoes. YUM! I'm also experimenting with sweet potatoes....that should be interesting. If those two things work well, I'll probably branch out to herbs and other vegies next summer. I've never really had a green thumb, but I need to learn how to garden since I LOVE fresh vegies and fruits and the Farmer's Market prices are killing me!!

Rainy Day Fun

We had a rainy afternoon yesterday. While Beth and Bob went to see "Wall-E", Sarah played in our driveway puddles...sometimes in the pouring down rain....and she loved every minute of it!

An action shot:

Check out the DIRTY puddle water -needless to say, we headed to straight to a nice, sudsy bath when she was finished. And yes, the white shorts are still white! The wonders of bleach!!

Discovering that it was raining on her:

Not caring even a little bit that it was pouring down rain on her:

Letting it rain on her face:

Today is the 4th of July and its gray and rainy again. We have evening plans so I hope it at least stops raining. I think our morning pool plans aren't happening.....
